It's hard to post after a year or so because there's this self-imposed pressure to produce something really meaningful or significant or new or exciting...

So here's a recent song I wrote that expresses the condition of my heart after returning from Mexico and Miami for Missionary Candidate Orientation with LAM (kudos to Spanglish speakers!):

"En Ti" (In You)

Llename otra vez con Tu Espiritu
Move in me once again 'cause I need more of You
Y asi mi corazon no se enfria
So my love for you will grow dia con dia

Otra vez yo vengo a ti con hambre y temor
But I know that your love frees me so all I want is more
So my heart will not grow cold dia con dia
Y asi mi amor por Ti no se enfria

Chorus
Tu Espiritu nos libra de todo el temor
y nos llena de Tu paz (poder) y de Tu amor
By Your Spirit we're set free
to walk by faith and see
The power and love are ours, forevermore
En Ti (In You)

Once again I come to You with doubt y necesidad
Corriendo a Ti, pidiendo de Ti, por fe en la obscuridad
Y asi mi fe en Ti no se enfria
So my faith with be renewed dia con dia

I love my job!  Here's a recent email dialogue between me, my co-worker Tam, and my boss Doug (who's out of the country right now):

"Okay, the two of you are missing it.

I am diligently working at my desk and I hear Wendy say, "I need to
dance."  The next thing I know there is some crazy Mexican music in the
air.  She gets up, shuts the door so no one catches her, and ..

voila, here she is, dancing, IN THE OFFICE!  It's Friday, for sure!

We need you here - Tam"

"Maybe I should cut my trip short and get back to restore a sense of
decorum to the mission center at Gordon-Conwell.  Perhaps Wendy's new found
fame as the poster child for Gordon-Conwell makes her think she is able to do
whatever she pleases wherever she wants!

Have fun!  Work hard!  See you in a few weeks.

Doug"

"So does that mean the Wilson Center won't reimburse my office purchase of the disco ball?!?  It's definitely time for some re-decorating around here... Wendy"

"Dear Wendy:

Thank you for writing.  Now that your famous I figured you might forget
about the little people who helped you get to the big time!

Actually, I have a picture of you and a copy of the Gordon-Conwell ad
right here in my study carrell in Oxford.  Wow, are you ever pretty!  That ad
should really bring the boys in from the towns and villages across our
great country.  If you put that picture in your file at E-Harmony, it
would shut down the system!

I will leave it to you and Tammy to figure out how to pay for the disco
ball.  She probably put it on my VISA card.  I don't know about you
ladies.   First I went off to Asia for some serious mission work only to come
back and find that "grandma got run over by a reindeer" was the best that
Sandi and Tammy could do to celebrate the nativity.

Now, I go off for some study and reflection only to learn that my
solemn office now pulsates with disco and smells of salsa.  In the ad, they
should have quoted you:  "I realized that Gordon Conwell had a lot more to
offer in terms of dancing, urban parties, college-men shopping opportunities,
and community life!"  "But in the end, it all came down to money. The
generous scholarship clinched the deal."

I'm kicking myself for not doing more thorough background checks!  I
should have called Warren one more time.

Redecorate as you and Tammy see fit.  Jeanie and I will do the remedial
work when we get back.

Sincerely,
Doug"

Gotta love life at GCTS!  And check for the new edits in the ad in CT in April...woo ha ha ha!

It's been a LONG time since I've posted...

I am hug-deprived!  Please give me a hug if you see me...

Missin' Mexico but lookin' forward to returning in a few weeks (awww yeah!).

Time to get me some argentinean steak, for all those who know about the bet...and I'm not paying!

A little salsa, cumbia, or just plain ballroom?

Back to the Beloved...

P.S. I can't believe I missed Chinese New Year!  I'm such a loser...or more Mexican than Chinese!

I pick up the phone to call...no one.

Your voice calls to me to be still.

Wait.

     Trust.

           Obey.

When will you come to my rescue?

Be still and know that I am God.~Psalm 46:10
